Okay lets start things off by simply saying that I’ll let the images do most of the talking, so heres a quick review of my new waterproofs.
A point of note, they say they’re waterproof – I’ve yet to get rained on so I’ll come back to that and edit later.
However there are a few things I can test, they say they’re windproof – that they are, its blowing 16 or so mph here and it did not get through, they are pretty much noiseless too, so they will be great should I ever see something I need to move up on quietly.
The images in the gallery show a couple of nice features, to start with good size pockets, both on the main body and a large poachers pocket to the rear, the wrists are pretty tight but can easily be unclipped – which is how I wear them, there is a fold-away hood, now I’m not a great fan of these, but it does feel thicker than the usual ones so I’ll reserve judgement for the next downpour.
Moving to the trousers, for me they’re a little long in the leg but otherwise fit well and both the knees and butt have an extra layer, today I was out in the woods grabbing some fungus/bug snaps (to follow) and was kneeling on wet ground and it was both comfy and dry.
Now they do get pretty damp though, not from the outside, but from the in – I suspect that if I were wearing something other than a bog standard t-shirt, such as some decent mountaineering kit it may be better. In fairness though despite the weather it is still pretty hot at the moment ~16c, so I will let them off that.
All in all a great buy to my mind for just under £100 for both the trousers and jacket.
